What is an AI label on an image?

Tools such as ChatGPT (GPT Image, DALL·E), Google Gemini, Adobe Firefly, Microsoft Designer and Meta AI write provenance data into the image file. The most common are a C2PA manifest (Content Credentials) and the IPTC field DigitalSourceType = trainedAlgorithmicMedia.

When you post the image, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok and LinkedIn read that metadata and show an "AI info", "Made with AI" or "AI-generated" label on the post.

What does this tool remove?

It parses the file at the byte level and drops metadata blocks without decoding or re-compressing pixels:

C2PA / Content Credentials: APP11 segments (JPEG), caBX chunks (PNG), C2PA chunks (WebP).
IPTC and Photoshop IRB (APP13), including DigitalSourceType.
XMP: creator tool and edit history.
EXIF: software, timestamps and GPS location. Orientation is kept so photos are not flipped.
Prompts saved inside PNG files by Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI and Automatic1111.

Limits to know

Some providers also embed an invisible watermark in the pixels themselves, such as Google SynthID. It is not metadata, so no metadata tool can remove it, and platforms may still detect AI images with their own classifiers.

Follow each platform’s AI transparency policy. For political ads, news or photorealistic images of real people, you should still disclose AI content yourself.

Does removing the AI label reduce image quality?

No. For JPG, PNG and WebP the tool only cuts out metadata blocks. Pixel data is kept byte for byte, so quality and dimensions do not change and the file usually gets smaller.

Can I remove the AI label and compress at the same time?

Yes. Turn on "Also compress" above the drop zone and choose WebP or JPG, quality and max edge. Downloads are both label-free and smaller, usually 60 to 90% lighter.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in JavaScript inside your browser. You can go offline after the page loads and the tool keeps working.

Will Facebook and Instagram still show "AI info" after cleaning?

Automatic labels based on C2PA and IPTC metadata lose their source. Meta also uses invisible watermarks and its own detectors, and labels appear if you self-disclose, so no tool can guarantee 100%.

Which AI generators are supported?

Any tool that writes standard metadata: ChatGPT, DALL·E, Sora, Gemini, Imagen, Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, FLUX, Ideogram, Leonardo, Meta AI, Grok, Microsoft Designer, Canva and more.

Is there a limit on file count or size?

No limits and completely free, with no sign-up. The only limit is your device’s memory.

What about HEIC, AVIF or GIF?

These are re-drawn into a new PNG or JPG if your browser can read them, which also drops all metadata. Safari reads HEIC; Chrome does not yet.
